Frequently Asked Questions
How does D&D Group Therapy work?
D&D group therapy is designed to have you experience therapeutic growth and community building. Groups include the use of evidenced-based therapy approaches and create, as a group, a goal they will work on together during sessions. Each player is instructed to develop a therapeutic personal goal. This goal is only known and discussed between the player/client and the therapist/Dungeon Master (DM). Players will be instructed and given guidance in session 0 to create an integrated character that resembles connections to the player’s life experiences.
What can I expect in Outdoor Therapy sessions?
Before the first session, we will discuss session expectations, safety and confidentiality. The location and route is designated for these sessions in Tacoma, WA. During the session we will have a meeting point, I will go over session expectations, safety, and confidentiality to see if you have questions, and I will explain the route and offer chances to walk, stand, and sit at times during the session. I set a timer for the session, giving us extra time to wrap up.
What will we discuss in therapy?
In sessions the topics we discuss vary based on your needs and concerns. Sessions are uniquely individualized and adaptable. If there are pressing concerns or stressors we can address it, if history is necessary at the session to discuss, moving our bodies, and/or getting creative, we can make any shift to fit you. I am here to adapt to fit those needs and find the best way to speak your language for clear guidance and understanding.
What is your cancellation policy?
The cancellation policy requires 48 hours notice. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged at $125 per missed session.
How do you create a safe and non-judgemental space?
I create a safe and non-judgmental therapy space by starting with a warm and confidential environment where you can feel heard and respected. I use active listening, empathy, and open-ended questions to encourage honest sharing. I set clear expectations early on, maintain a non-judgmental stance, and model compassion. This approach builds trust in our partnership, supporting your growth and healing.
